Tehran; Ceremony Held to Commemorate Media Martyrs, Launch Campaign Against Terrorism

Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) hosted a commemoration ceremony to honor the Iranian national media staff martyred in Israeli aggression and launched an international campaign to condemn terrorism against the media.

International Journalist Visit IRIB Headquarters Hit by Israeli Strikes

the ceremony began with the media activists invited to Iran visiting IRIB’s headquarters shattered due to the Israeli regime’s attack.

They met with Iranian news anchor Sahar who got renown due to her courageous performance amid the Israeli attack on the building she was pressing news.

During the visit, Sahar Emami provided the international journalists with narrative of Iranian media staff against the Israeli-US aggression; that “the voice of truth will never be silenced.”

Renown Filmmaker Dedicates His Cinema Awards to IRIB News Anchor Sahar Emami

Ahmadreza Darvish presented two of his prestigious cinematic awards to Sahar Emami, a news anchor at IRIB, in recognition of her courageous performance in a life-threatening moment.

The gesture follows the brutal attack by the Israeli regime on IRIB’s headquarters on June 15, during which Emami continued her live broadcast until the final moments, an unprecedented act that drew global attention.

Honoring the families of media martyrs, Darvish stated at he ceremony: “With what was carried out in the news control room after the Israeli attack, the best cinematic sequence in the country was created.”

Sahar Emami then dedicated the awards to her colleagues in the Iranian national media.

She highlighted the scene created in the national media to keep the IRIB news control room on air despite the Israeli aggression, described the achievement as the result of journalistic unity.

Also, Sahar Emami Special award was unveiled in the ceremony.

The award was dedicated to a those media staff who showed self-sacrifice during the Israeli regime’s aggression on IRIB headquarters.

Head of IRIB World Service: Israeli Regime Considers IRIB 8th Front to Attack
Ahmad Norouzi said the Israeli regime recently declared they are fighting on seven fronts, and now they are engaged in battle with the media as the eighth front.
Nouroozi also talked about a campaign launched in IRIB to designate June 16 as the International Day Against Media Terrorism.
As with the Israeli regime’s strike on IRIB headquarters, he stressed that the great crimes should not be forgotten and must be recorded in the history.

Head of IRIB: Iranian Journalists Echo of Truth Across World

Hailing the Iranian national media professionals’ dedication and courage, Head of IRIB stated that journalists are the echo of truth’s voice across the world.

Peyman Jebelli noted that media professionals in Iran represent the new generation of the Islamic Revolution, actively defending the Iranian nation.

He commended the courageous resistance of the national media staff, considering Sahar Emami as the one who embodies the brave and steadfast Iranian journalist.

American Media Activist Joined Iranians’ Slogan “Death to US”
At the conclusion of the event, with the presence of the IRIB Head families of the Iranian media martyrs were honored.
The international journalists present at the ceremony signed the campaign condemning terrorism against the media, called in their speeches for the protection of journalists, and praised the strength of Iran’s media community.

Kala Walsh, the American media activist, raised Iranian nation’s slogans “Death to US” and “Death to Israel,” after signing the campaign.

The event “Commemoration Ceremony for Iranian National Media Martyrs” was hosted by the Sobh Media Center on Sunday evening, July 20, 2025, with the participation of domestic and foreign journalists.
