The selection ceremony for the winners of the third International “Sobh” Media Festival was held at the International Conference Center of Iran’s state broadcaster (IRIB), attended by Peyman Jebelli, head of IRIB, Ahmad Norouzi, head of IRIB World Service, and a group of domestic and foreign guests, including well-known anti-arrogance and anti-domination figures.
Special awards were presented in the names of:
– Martyr Ismail Haniyeh to Clare Daly and Mick Wallace, former members of the European Parliament, and George Galloway, former British MP.
– Martyr Ahmad Abu Al-Roos to Ahmed Sahmoud, Al-Alam network’s journalist in Gaza.
– Martyr Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah to Masoud Nejabati, an Iranian graphic artist.

“We Are the Voice of the Voiceless; Pure Consciences Stand on the Right Side of History”
Peyman Jebelli, head of IRIB, emphasized the role of national media and independent outlets in amplifying the voices of the oppressed and ensuring that awakened consciences stand on the “right side of history.”
He welcomed attendees, expressing hope that the Sobh Media Festival, inspired by the names of “martyrs of humanity, resistance, and the fight against oppression and arrogance,” would continue to grow. Referring to recent events, he stated that the outcome would ultimately “favor resistance and harm arrogance.” He honored the memory of resistance martyrs, including Ismail Haniyeh, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, Seyyed Hashem Safieddine, Yahya Sinwar, and Mohammed Deif.
Jebelli expressed pride in hosting “anti-oppression figures” from Europe, America, Asia, and Arab nations, declaring: “We stand on the right side of history.” He stressed the need for unity among independent forces opposing “domination currents” and asserted that while the enemy “claims to be stronger,” we claim to be greater in numbers.”
Despite the enemy’s “weapons, bunker-buster bombs, and fighter jets,” Jebelli said their pride lies in “massacring the children and infants of Gaza,” whereas “our pride is standing against their tyranny and sustaining the global anti-Zionist movement from East to West.” Citing the Leader’s message to students worldwide, he described the “protest movement against oppression and domination” as part of the “resistance front” and reiterated that protesters stand on the “right side of history.”
Jebelli noted that while the “enemy of humanity” may have material superiority, “we are greater in number.” He described “pure instincts and awakened consciences” as transcending religion and geography, contrasting them with the hypocrisy of domination powers who “label legitimate resistance as terrorism and independent governments as dictators.”
According to Jebelli, the record of hegemonic powers is “filled with historical distortion,” and “therefore, today more than ever, the importance of the convergence of independent media has grown,” adding that “the spiral of silence in the world must be broken.”
Jebelli considered Iran’s hosting of “figures of resistance” an honor, stating, “We are pleased that in the Iran of resistance, Islamic Iran, and the Iran of the Islamic Revolution, we are hosting well-known, independent, and influential figures in shaping global public opinion.” He emphasized that despite the enemy’s efforts to “make history forgotten,” it is impossible for them to erase history. “It is our duty to keep history alive,” he affirmed.
The President of IRIB, referring to the need for “symbolization,” described the key concept in Palestinian culture as the symbol of “returning home,” emphasizing that as long as there are Palestinians, the “ideal of homeland and return to home remains.” In response to the enemy’s reliance on “media power,” he highlighted the “countless” presence of anti-imperialist activists and media in the media space, stating that even with “account suspensions” and the “inability to use satellites,” the media will continue their work “mouth to mouth.”
He concluded by expressing hope that the festival would serve as “a help for the oppressed and downtrodden in the world” so that “their voices can be heard.” He considered the “historical, ethical, and human duty” of national media to be “the voice of the voiceless” and to carry “their voices to the world.

“We Take Pride in Supporting Palestine”
Ahmad Norouzi, the head of the IRIB World Service, also congratulated attendees on the occasion of the Decade of Dignity and stated: “The Sobh media event and hosting foreign guests is an honor for us.”
He also praised Ahmad Sahmoud, a Palestinian reporter from Al-Alam TV, for covering the recent events in Gaza, as well as Hussein Ezeddine and Maryam Saleh, reporters from Al-Alam and Press TV in Lebanon, for their bravery in revealing the truth about the Zionist crimes in the region.
Norouzi continued by saying: “The Sobh Festival started three years ago, and now it has become a complete event. The first Sobh Festival only had one award for Palestine, and now, after the Al-Aqsa Storm, it is impossible not to consider Palestine in such a festival. If we fail to do so, we will definitely be straying from our goal.”
He pointed to the intensification of Israeli crimes since 2023 and mentioned: “So far, eight percent of Gaza’s population has been martyred as a result of the Israeli aggressor’s attacks, with women, children, and civilians bearing the brunt of the casualties. During 36 attacks by the Zionists on Gaza, all those affected and martyred were women and children.”
The head of the IRIB World Service also referred to the American unilateral system and the popular uprising in support of Palestine after October 7, stating: “We must salute all resistance groups who took practical action in support of the oppressed. As an Iranian citizen, I am proud that we have never hesitated in supporting Palestine.”
At the end, Norouzi paid tribute to the 200 martyr journalists who sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of truth.

4,160 Media Works Received from 40 Countries
Ehsan Kaveh, the Deputy Head of the IRIB World Service and the festival’s Secretary, also thanked the deputies, committees, and organizers during the session. He mentioned that works from 40 countries were submitted to the festival, totaling 4,160 pieces, of which 533 focused on Palestine.
He added that 11 judging panels reviewed the works submitted to the Sobh Media Festival. The Sobh Media Products Market was also inaugurated by the Head of IRIB and will host interested individuals daily from Wednesday until 3 PM.
