Hanizah Mohd Hamzah has been the Head of Television at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, since 2006. In her role, she collaborates with professionals from both international and domestic media organizations and has travelled extensively to ABU member countries. Hanizah has served as a consultant for numerous media-related festivals, including the ABU TV Song Festival, ABU Song Contest, ABU International Dance Festival, Guangzhou Documentary (GZDOC), Busan Documentary Festival, TokyoDocs, Tokyo International Drama Festival, and the Prix Jeunesse Children TV Festival in Germany. Her distinguished career in media broadcasting includes serving as a Creative Radio Consultant for Malaysia’s Women’s Radio in 2005. Internationally, she was a Specialist at NHK, Radio Japan from 1986 to 1991. Hanizah’s broadcasting journey began in 1981 as a Radio Producer/TV Presenter at RTM-Malaysia after earning a degree in Mass Communication. With her extensive knowledge and experience in broadcasting, Hanizah has been invited as juror to numerous festivals and award events such as UNICEF Child Rights Award (CRA) 2015, International Emmy Award for News and Current Affairs in 2011 and 2015, Malaysia Film Festival 2013, Seri Angkasa Award 2016, Golden Ribbon of Belt and Road Media Community in 2018, 2019, and 2022, Malaysia Medical Travel Media Awards in 2019/2020/2022 and Malaysia Press Institute Awards in 2023/2024. Known among her colleagues as a highly driven yet compassionate individual, Hanizah strives to excel in everything she does. Balancing her professional and personal life, she is a positive mother of four. In her free time, she enjoys music, movies, gardening and cooking. Hanizah is proficient in Bahasa Malaysia, English and speaks some Japanese greetings.
