Aoki started his career at NHK Japan in 2000. Since then, he has been directing and producing many TV and radio programs especially music shows such as “Futari no Big Show,” “NHK Kayou Concert,” “Pop Jam,” and “Music Japan.”
During his time as a director/producer at Sendai Broadcasting Station, one of the areas massively affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, he produced a number of disaster covers, documentaries, and dramas related to this tragedy. He also participated in the “Hana wa Saku” charity song project to support people in disaster-stricken areas, and he was in charge of directing the content starring the figure skating Olympic gold medalists Shizuka Arakawa and Yuzuru Hanyu perform with the song.
He was a senior producer for the live music show “Venue 101,” which airs on Saturdays at 11 p.m.
Currently, he is ABU Director of Programming since January 2025.
